What is Search Intent?
Search intent is the purpose behind a searcher’s query, and understanding search intent is critical to delivering relevant results.
People don’t just search for random things – they usually have a specific goal in mind, whether it’s to find information, buy a product, or do something else entirely.
As an affiliate marketer, it’s important to understand search intent so you can match your content to the right searches.
If you can do that, you’ll be more likely to drive traffic that converts into sales.
There are Four Main Types of Search Intent: Navigational, Informational, Commercial, and Transactional or Buyer Intent.
Navigational Intent
Navigational intent is when someone wants to go to a specific website – for example, if they search for “Facebook”, their intent is to go to the Facebook website.
Informational Intent
Informational intent is when someone wants to learn about something – for example, if they search for “how to start a blog”, their intent is to find out more about starting a blog.
Commercial Intent
Commercial intent is when someone is considering buying something – for example if they search for “best writing tools of 2022”, their intent is to know more about discounts, features, pros, and cons of the best writing tools of the year 2022.
Transaction Intent
Transactional intent or buying intent is when someone is ready to buy a particular product or service – for example, if they search for “ best price SEO tools of September 2022 “, their intent is to know the best price they can buy.
You can use the SemRush free keyword intent analysis to discover your audience’s search intent.
It is easy to use. Go there and enter your seed keyword into their search bar, and it will let you know what the intent of the keyword is.
Why is Search Intent Important for Affiliate Marketing?
Search intent is important for affiliate marketing because it allows you to target your audience more effectively.
By understanding what people are looking for when they search for something, you can better match your products and services to their needs.
This can lead to more sales and conversions for you as an Affiliate marketer.
How do you find the Keywords That People are Searching for?
There are a few methods you can use to find the keywords people are searching for.
- The first is to use a keyword research tool like Google AdWords Keyword Planner, and SEMrush
Both of these tools will allow you to input a seed keyword and see related keywords that people are searching for. You can then use these keywords in your blog content to attract traffic from search engines.
- Another method is to use Google search autocomplete. Start typing in a seed keyword and see what Google suggests as you type.
These are typically popular keywords that people are searching for, copy and input the keyword in SEMrush to know the search intent behind it.
- Hang out where your audiences are hanging out to know more about them.
Then use their common language to attract them to your affiliate marketing links.
Use these keywords to create unique blog content and add your affiliate links.
- Finally, you can look at competitor websites and see what keywords they are targeting.
You can use these same keywords in your blog content to attract traffic from search engines and social media.
And get consistent clicks on your affiliate marketing links to earn, and boost your affiliate income.
How to use the Data you Get From Search Intent to Boost your Affiliate Income
If you’re an affiliate marketer, then by now you know that one of the most important things to focus on is search intent.
Search intent is basically what someone is looking for when they use a search engine.
It’s the reason behind the search, and it can be anything from finding information to making a purchase.
Knowing the search intent behind any queries is essential to creating content that will help them achieve their goal.
And once you know their intent, you can use it to your advantage to make more money.
Here’s how:
1. Use keyword research to understand search intent.
The first step is to use keyword research tools to understand what people are searching for.
There are so many Keyword research tools with free and paid versions you can use.
And among them are SEMrush, Ahrefs, KWFinder, SE Ranking, Serpstat, Ubersuggest.
This will give you an idea of the different types of searches that are being made, what people are looking for, and the intent behind the search.
2. Create content that matches search intent.
Once you know what people are searching for, you can create content that matches their intent.
As an affiliate marketer, your content should be focused on helping people make a purchase. If you’re providing information, then your content should be focused on giving people the information they’re looking for.
Because of Search Engine Algorithm changes I will say you should create 40% Informational content, 60% Commercial, & Transactional content.
So that no matter how the search engines change their algorithm, it will not affect you.
What all of them want is to help them retain their users, and as long as you are providing value to people, you are safe.
Life is good when you give value and earn value in return.
3. Add Calls to Action to the Content to Increase Affiliate income.
After you have gotten your search intent data, and you have used it to create valuable content that matches the intent, don’t forget to add call to action to the content.
Calls to action is a great way that helps affiliate marketer convert their content to affiliate sales.
